6 completely free things to do in Dubai this October

October is packed with ways to get out in Dubai without spending on admission. This month’s free options go well beyond sightseeing, with beauty treatments, fitness sessions, outdoor wellness, dance classes, and social events all on the calendar.

Some activities require advance registration or membership, but the experiences themselves are currently being offered free. Here are six worth knowing about.

ULTA Beauty is giving members of its free Aura Rewards programme access to one complimentary beauty service each week.

The available menu covers more than 30 treatments and services, including options across skincare, make-up, brows and nails. Customers first need to join Aura Rewards and then reserve an available service through ULTA Beauty’s booking channels.

The perk is available across the brand’s Dubai stores, including Dubai Mall, Dubai Hills Mall and Mall of the Emirates, making this one of the easiest freebies to fit into a shopping day.

Availability depends on appointment slots, so booking ahead is recommended.

Dubai Fitness Challenge returns at the end of October for its 10th edition, once again encouraging residents and visitors to complete 30 minutes of activity every day for 30 days.

The citywide programme includes free Fitness Villages, community hubs, exercise classes and major participation events, with activities catering to different ages and fitness levels.

Registration has already opened, so October is a good time to sign up and start planning your 30×30 before the full programme gets underway.

The challenge continues into November, with Dubai Ride, Dubai Run, stand-up paddle and yoga among the headline events scheduled during the wider campaign.

If cooler evenings have you ready to take workouts outside again, Yogalates Under the Gate at DIFC combines elements of yoga and Pilates in a free community wellness session.

The recurring event is organised with YOFit and focuses on flexibility, strength and relaxation in an outdoor setting around the Gate District.

Sessions are typically followed by a social element with complimentary refreshments, making the experience as much about community as exercise.

Participation is free, although places can be limited and advance registration is recommended.

Qwerty at Media One Hotel has brought back The Thursday Edit, giving ladies another free midweek option in Dubai Media City.

The current offer includes complimentary free-flow white, rosé and red wine for ladies, with the venue’s terrace making it particularly appealing now that outdoor season is returning.

Food and anything outside the complimentary ladies’ night selection are charged separately, so it is possible to enjoy the core drinks offer without purchasing a full package.

As this is a licensed venue, the usual UAE age requirements apply.

You do not need dance experience or even a partner to give salsa a try this month.

DC DanceSport Academy Dubai is hosting a free open-house session in JBR, introducing beginners to salsa and bachata through short guided classes followed by social dancing.

The programme includes introductory salsa movements, bachata basics and turns, making it suitable for anyone who has been curious about Latin dance but does not want to commit to a paid course before trying it.

Entry is free, but spaces are limited, so a confirmed reservation is required.

If standard run clubs sound a little too serious, The Garden Project at Address Montgomerie has a more social alternative.

Its community run series, created with GymNation, brings runners together for a relaxed 5km group run before everyone heads back to The Garden.

The run itself is free and open to different ability levels. Better still, the current offer includes two complimentary pizza slices and a drink for the first 100 runners after the session.

It runs weekly, turning exercise into an easy social evening rather than a competitive training session.

October’s free calendar proves you do not need a large entertainment budget to keep busy in Dubai. You can book a beauty treatment, try a new workout, learn to dance, or join a community run without paying for the experience itself. Just remember that the most popular free activities often have limited spaces, so registration is worth sorting out early.
