8 major Dubai changes coming in October 2026

October is bringing a noticeable shift to Dubai. Seasonal attractions are returning, the city is entering its first full month with Etihad Rail passenger services, school calendars include a mid-term break, international airlines are restoring more Dubai flights, and new truck restrictions will affect parts of the road network.

One important clarification: Etihad Rail’s Dubai service launches on September 30, 2026, just before October begins. It is included because October will be the first full month residents can use the new Dubai station.

Etihad Rail passenger services from Dubai Al Yalayis Station begin on September 30, bringing the UAE’s national passenger railway into regular operation in Dubai.

The station is located beside Jumeirah Golf Estates in Me’aisem First and connects directly to the Dubai Metro Red Line through a 400-metre elevated pedestrian walkway.

Passengers can travel directly between Dubai and Abu Dhabi, while Dubai–Fujairah services are also part of the network. Current schedules put the Dubai–Abu Dhabi journey at a little over an hour.

One of Dubai’s biggest seasonal attractions returns on October 14, 2026.

Global Village’s 31st season will once again combine international pavilions, food, shopping, live entertainment and family attractions, with the season continuing into 2027.

Current opening hours are listed as 4 pm to midnight from Sunday to Wednesday and 4 pm to 1 am from Thursday to Saturday and on public holidays. Tuesdays, except public holidays, are traditionally reserved for families, couples and women.

3) It’s half-term

Families should prepare for an October school break, although dates are not identical across every school in Dubai.

Several private schools following the relevant UAE academic calendar have their mid-term break scheduled from October 12 to October 16, with classes resuming on October 19.

Parents should still check their individual school calendar before booking travel, particularly because schools following Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi or other curriculum calendars may operate on different schedules.

4) Major airlines are returning

Late October will bring another wave of international airlines back to Dubai after disrupted services.

Singapore Airlines is scheduled to resume its daily Dubai service from October 25. Wizz Air is also returning with Dubai routes around the same period.

Lufthansa Group services are set to return gradually, with Lufthansa flights from Munich and Frankfurt and SWISS services from Zurich scheduled around the final week of October. KLM and airBaltic are also showing Dubai services returning around this period.

Not every airline will resume during October, so passengers should continue checking directly with their carrier before travelling.

Dubai Miracle Garden will return for Season 15 on October 8, 2026, bringing one of the city’s best-known outdoor attractions back after its summer closure.

The garden covers around 72,000 square metres and features more than 150 million seasonal flowers, alongside familiar attractions such as the Heart Tunnel, Floral Castle, Emirates A380 display, Smurfs Village and Sunflower Field.

Current operating hours are listed as 9 am to 9 pm daily.

6) New Dubai truck restrictions begin

A significant road-rule change takes effect from October 1, although it is more accurate to describe it as expanded truck movement restrictions rather than a complete Dubai-wide truck ban.

Restrictions will apply to heavy vehicles on a number of Dubai roads during specified periods, while Emirates Road remains exempt from the new measures.

Some roads and crossings will have round-the-clock restrictions, while others will restrict truck movement during daytime or peak traffic periods.

Among the affected routes are parts of Al Qudra Street, Al Meydan Street, Sheikh Zayed Road, Beirut Street, Airport Street, Oman Street and Damascus Street, with the exact restriction period depending on the road.

When: From October 1, 2026 | Applies to: Heavy vehicles on specified Dubai roads

7) Dubai Parks and Resorts reopens

Dubai Parks and Resorts is preparing to welcome visitors again from October 7, 2026, following an extended closure.

The return includes major attractions such as Motiongate Dubai, Real Madrid World, Legoland Dubai and Riverland Dubai, bringing rides, themed entertainment and family activities back as Dubai’s outdoor season begins.

Its reopening falls just before several other major seasonal destinations return, making early October an important period for the city’s entertainment calendar.

8) Dubai Fitness Challenge gets underway

October finishes with the return of the Dubai Fitness Challenge.

The citywide initiative is scheduled to run from October 31 to November 29, 2026, encouraging residents and visitors to complete 30 minutes of exercise every day for 30 days.

The wider programme will include Fitness Villages, community classes and major events such as Dubai Ride, Dubai Stand Up Paddle, Dubai Run and Dubai Yoga.

Many activities are designed to be free and accessible, although certain events may require advance registration.

When: October 31–November 29, 2026 | Challenge: 30 minutes of activity for 30 days | Location: Across Dubai

October therefore brings a mix of transport changes, school holidays, attraction reopenings, airline returns and major citywide events. Key dates include October 1 for the new truck restrictions, October 7 and 8 for major attraction reopenings, October 14 for Global Village, late October for returning airline services, and October 31 for the start of Dubai Fitness Challenge.
