From Banking Boardrooms to Building a Lifestyle Empire

Natasha Rogovskaya on intuition, fearless reinvention, and the global expansion of NR Lifestyle.

From Banking Boardrooms to Building a Lifestyle Empire

Few executives leave the certainty of a banking career to build something of their own. Fewer still do it with the conviction that intuition, when paired with discipline, is a more reliable compass than any market forecast. Natasha Rogovskaya did exactly that — and the company she has built, NR Lifestyle, is now preparing for a global expansion that will take it across four continents.

We sat down with Ms. Rogovskaya to talk about the years she spent inside the banking industry, the decision to step away from corporate life, the philosophy that drives NR Lifestyle, and the plans her team is finalizing for the company’s next chapter — a coordinated rollout across South America, North America, Asia, and the European Union.

Q.  Let’s start where your journey began. You spent years in banking before founding NR Lifestyle. What did banking teach you that you carry with you today?

NR:  Banking gave me the foundation everything else is built on. It taught me discipline. It taught me how to read people. It taught me that trust is the most valuable currency in any business, and that you earn it slowly and lose it quickly. I learned how to make decisions when the stakes are high and the timelines are short. I learned how to listen carefully — to clients, to colleagues, to numbers, and to my own instincts. Banking is often described as a numbers business, but at the highest levels it is really a people business. Everything I do today rests on what those years gave me.

Q.  And yet, despite that foundation, you chose to leave. Why?

NR:  Because the structure that protects you also limits you. Inside a large institution there is a way things are done. There is a path you are expected to walk. For a long time I walked that path with intention. But there came a point where I understood that the success I was building was someone else’s definition of success, not mine. I wanted to create something that reflected my own vision — something that combined the discipline I had learned with the freedom to make decisions based on what I actually believed in. Stepping away was frightening. It was also the most clarifying decision I have ever made.

Q.  Tell us about NR Lifestyle. What is it, and what makes it different?

NR:  NR Lifestyle is built on a simple idea: that the way a person lives is a reflection of what they value. We work with clients to design lives that are aligned with their personal vision — not the version sold to them by trends, not the version inherited from circumstance. That means different things for different people. For some it is curating environments. For others it is access, introductions, experiences. For others it is the quieter work of helping them clarify what they actually want before we ever talk about how to deliver it. What makes NR Lifestyle different is that we do not start with a service menu. We start with the person.

Q.  That sounds personal by design. How does a model like that scale?

NR:  Carefully. That is the honest answer. We have spent years refining a model that protects the personal nature of what we do while still allowing us to grow. The key has been investing in people — a team of professionals who share the same standards and the same instincts. We have also been disciplined about saying no. We turn down opportunities that would dilute what we do. Growth without discipline is not growth; it is drift. We have grown deliberately, and now we are ready for the next stage.

Q.  Let’s talk about that next stage. The team is preparing for international expansion. Where are you going?

NR:  Four regions, in a coordinated sequence. North America — the United States and Canada — is one of our primary near-term markets. South America is the second — we see significant unmet demand for the kind of personalized work we do, particularly in Brazil, Mexico, and the Southern Cone. Asia is the third — with a strong initial focus on the UAE’s gateway markets and connections into Singapore, Hong Kong, and emerging affluence corridors. And the European Union is the fourth — a market we have deep familiarity with and where the regulatory and cultural infrastructure aligns well with how we operate.

Q.  That is an ambitious sequence. How do you avoid losing what makes the brand distinctive as you grow?

NR:  By refusing to compromise on the people who represent the brand in each market. Expansion is not about planting flags. It is about choosing the right partners, the right team members, and the right clients in each region. We are not opening offices for the sake of opening offices. We are entering markets where we believe we can deliver the same standard of work that has defined NR Lifestyle from the beginning. If a market is not ready for that, we wait.

Q.  Why now? What has changed?

NR:  Two things. First, the team is ready — we have built the bench, the systems, and the operational depth to support multiple markets at once. Second, the world has changed. The clients we serve are increasingly international in how they live, where they spend their time, and what they need from a partner. A client based in Dubai may spend half the year in London and three months in São Paulo. A client in New York may be building a presence in Singapore. Our clients live globally. Our company should reflect that.

Q.  What is the timeline?

NR:  We are working in phases. The first phase focuses on establishing our presence in North America and select South American markets, alongside deepening our footprint in the EU. The second phase, which begins within the following twelve to eighteen months, brings the Asia rollout. We are not announcing specific city-by-city dates today, but the team is moving quickly and we expect to share more in the coming months.

Q.  Let’s talk about you for a moment. People who follow your work often describe you as intuitive, fearless. Do you see yourself that way?
NR:  I see myself as someone who pays attention. Intuition is not magic. It is the accumulation of years of careful observation — of people, of markets, of patterns. When I describe a decision as intuitive, what I really mean is that the information has been in front of me for a long time and my mind has finally connected it. Fearless is a kinder word than I would use for myself. I am not without fear. I have simply made peace with the fact that the most important decisions of my life have been made on the other side of fear, not in its absence.

Q.  What advice would you give a young woman in banking today who is asking herself the same questions you were once asking?
NR:  Stay long enough to learn what you came to learn. Leave before you become someone you do not recognize. And in the meantime, build the relationships that will carry you in whatever you do next. People are everything. The institution you work for will not remember you. The people you treated with care and respect will.

Q.  A closing question. When NR Lifestyle is established across all four regions, what will you consider success?
NR:  Success will not be the map. It will be that, in every city where we operate, a client can sit down with one of our people and feel completely understood. If that experience is the same in São Paulo, in Singapore, in New York, and in Milan, we will have built what I set out to build. Everything else is a consequence of that.
