The planned shopping centre will be built across two floors and is expected to contain 40 retail outlets.

At this stage, the developers have not announced which shops, restaurants, cafés or service providers will occupy the mall. Details about individual tenants and the eventual opening date have also not been released.

That means residents will need to wait for further announcements before knowing exactly what the new destination will offer.

More than just shopping

The project has a purpose that extends beyond providing another place for residents to shop.

As an endowment development, the income generated by the shopping centre will be directed towards supporting mosque affairs across Dubai.

This makes the Hind City project part of Awqaf Dubai’s wider approach to creating assets that can generate sustainable revenue for charitable and religious initiatives.

The Dh73 million development will therefore combine a commercial function with a long-term endowment objective.

When will the new Dubai mall open?

Construction of the two-storey centre has been announced, with completion targeted within two years.

However, an exact completion date or public opening day has not yet been announced.

Information about the construction schedule, tenants and other facilities is expected to become clearer as the project progresses.

What other malls are coming to Dubai?

The Hind City development is part of a much wider expansion of Dubai’s retail landscape.

Another major project is Skylight Mall, which Dubai Retail has announced for Al Khail Road. The super-regional mall is scheduled to open in 2027 and is planned to have more than 360 stores across 1.3 million square feet of gross leasable area.

Dubai is also developing larger destinations such as Dubai Square at Dubai Creek Harbour, while community-focused projects including Sobha Mall and South Bay Mall are adding further retail space across the emirate.

The new Hind City mall will be smaller in scale than some of these major destinations, but its community focus and endowment purpose give the project a different role in Dubai’s growing retail network.
