The UK-based publication, which shut down in 2017 for lack of funding, is back online with daily coverage of news, politics, business, sport and culture.

An independent news brand that quietly disappeared at the end of the last decade has returned to the web. Dispatch Times, first launched in 2015, has relaunched and resumed daily publishing after a hiatus that began in 2017, when the title was forced to pause operations due to a shortfall in funding.
During its first run, the outlet built a modest but loyal readership with straightforward, independent reporting. When it went dark in 2017, its archive and audience went with it — but the brand was never formally wound down, and interest in a return persisted among former readers and contributors.
That return has now arrived. The relaunched publication is publishing across a notably wider remit than before, with dedicated sections covering UK, US and world news, politics, the economy, health, sport, TV and showbiz, travel and technology. Recent coverage has ranged from Westminster politics and global affairs to football, Formula 1 and the latest moves in big tech.
“We never wanted to stop — funding made that decision for us in 2017,” said Lucas Bennett of Dispatch Times. “Coming back now, we get to honour what worked the first time while building something far more ambitious. We’re not just switching the lights back on; we’re rebuilding the house.”
The platform itself has been rebuilt from the ground up, with a cleaner, faster reading experience designed for both desktop and mobile. The team says the priority now is consistency — publishing every day, widening coverage and rebuilding the contributor base — rather than chasing scale overnight.
The comeback lands at a moment when smaller, independent outlets are under sustained pressure, squeezed between shrinking advertising revenue and the dominance of a handful of large publishers and platforms. Reviving a title that closed for exactly those reasons is, in that sense, a bet that there is still room for lean, independent journalism.
